So you’ve finally decided to head to Walt Disney World. With so much to see and do, it’s important to come prepared. Here are some excellent tips to make your trip to Disney World one that will be remembered for a lifetime.
Plan ahead. Decide ahead of time what your priorities are and make a plan of action.
Get to the parks early! It’s amazing, particularly in busy season, how many of the popular rides you can knock off before half the “World” gets out of bed.
Take the time to rest in the middle of the day. Stay at one of the Magic Kingdom or Epcot resorts, allowing a return in the middle of the day for a nap or dip in the pool.
Call exactly 90 days prior at 7 AM Orlando time for priority seating if breakfast at Cinderella’s Royal Table in the Magic Kingdom is tops on your child’s list. The only way you might get away with sleeping in and booking a bit later for this highly coveted character breakfast is if you are traveling in extremely slow season.
Come prepared for an afternoon shower
during the rainy summer months even if the sky looks perfectly clear in the morning. Rent a locker to store your raingear and circle back if skies start to look threatening. However, if you’re caught unprepared, just about every store in the parks sells inexpensive rain ponchos.
Use Fastpass, Disney’s free, nifty timesaving device. It’s offered at all four theme parks and is a great way to save hours of waiting in line. Just insert your park pass in one of the machines located at each individual Fastpass attraction and receive a ticket printed with a designated one-hour window in which you may return and enter a special line with little or no waiting.
Pre-arrange priority seating, Disney’s answer to dining reservations, by calling 407-WDW-DINE. On arrival you’ll receive the next table available for your party size, thus saving hours of frustration and waiting.
Allow plenty of time to reach the theme parks each morning. It’s easy to miss your breakfast priority seating is you don’t allocate enough time.
Be spontaneous. If something catches your eye, even if it’s not on your daily list of things to do, stop and explore. If not, you could miss something wonderful.
Realize the limitations of your children. If they’re tired, take a break. If their feet hurt, get them a stroller (forget that they outgrew one years ago). If a ride scares them don’t force the issue. Such precautions will make your day and the day of other park visitors a lot less stressful.
Bring pagers, 2-way radios, or cell phones. If your party plans on splitting up, they are a perfect way to keep in touch.
Wear broken-in, comfortable footwear. Better yet, bring two pairs and rotate them. Nothing is worse than blisters on your first day and then nursing them for the remainder of your Disney World vacation.
Most importantly, slow down and enjoy the magic. Resist the urge to see everything at breakneck speed. You can’t possibly cover it all, so think of this as your first trip to Disney, not your last. There will be time to pick up all the things you missed on the next go-round.
You’ve been looking forward to your Disney World vacation for months. You’ve packed your bags, bought your plant ticket or hopped in the car, checked into your hotel room, and are just about to go out and explore Disney World Park. Then… it gets cloudy overhead and starts to rain. Uh-oh, your day’s ruined… or is it?
Here are some activities you can do at Disney World, even if Mother Nature is uncooperative:
– You can go to other attractions that take place indoors. For example, you can watch the Lion King or the Little Mermaid show, go on the Animation Tour, visit the Tower of Terror, or go see Pirates of the Caribbean or Dinosaur.
– You can still explore a park. The best ones to go to on a rainy day are Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Epcot Futureworld. A lot of attractions at these parks are close together under cover.
– You can watch a movie at AMC Theater Complex 24 at Downtown Disney’s West Side. You’re sure to find something you’ll be interested in.
– You can hop on the monorail and take a tour of the resorts and what they have. Just ask to ride in the driver’s cabin and enjoy exploring the Polynesian, Contemporary, and Grand Floridian resorts.
– You can also take the free tour at the Grand Floridian
resort or the Wilderness Lodge
– If it starts raining on you while you’re walking along the Boardwalk, scoot inside one of the restaurants or clubs nearby. You’ll find family and luxury dining, sports bars, and a piano bar, among other things.
– Race a car, go golfing or skiing, or try other video simulator games and activities courtesy of the ESPN Club. You can also visit video arcades inside the Disney World resorts.
– Create your own roller coaster ride at DisneyQuest. This interactive theme park is an indoor, weather-protected attraction at Downtown Disney’s West Side. You’ll find great family entertainment here with games, simulators, high-tech rides, and virtual reality activities.
– You can also enjoy activities on a rainy night! Hop on over to Downtown Disney’s Pleasure Island, or treat yourself to a House of Blues concert at Downtown Disney’s West Side.
You might also be able to catch some fireworks at Magic Kingdom or the Epcot Center. They won’t be canceled due to rain, and with more people choosing to call it a night or head inside, you can find a good vantage point.
– Of course, you can always choose to brave the weather and go to Disney World Park anyway! Others will leave the park, which means shorter lines for you. So buy yourself a poncho, and have an extra pair of socks and shoes handy in case you need them, and take advantage of an emptier park.
Don’t let rainy weather stop you from having a ball at Walt Disney World. As long as you have a backup plan, you won’t skip a beat. Always keep an eye out for other activities you can do, and you’ll have a vacation you’ll never forget.

Disney World Wait Line at an Attraction
Walt Disney World is the childhood milestone of so very many as the first “happiest day of their life”– or a minimum of half of your day at the park is. During the other half of a journey to Walt Disney World, you’re waiting level. But a new trip is demoing a system that Walt Disney World would like to attempt out in the future to evade the obnoxiously long wait times– allowing visitors to make a booking in advance to assure they will certainly land a ride.
Play Story’s Midway Mania will be the first ride to feature a timetable that only guests who have recently reserved a port will have the ability to jump on. That implies Walt Disney World enthusiasts will have to think ahead in order to catch a place on their favorite trip– specifically one as prominent as Midway Mania that is linked with one of Walt Disney’s most preferred motion picture franchise business.
Dennis Speigel, the president of International Theme Park Services, mentioned to The Orlando Sentinel that Disney’s brand-new technique isn’t really that shocking. Theme parks have actually long tried to combat what most visitors view as the biggest issue– spending hours waiting for a 15-minute ride.
“Everybody’s making every effort to enhance the circulation of the visitor. That’s the wave of the future in our sector. It would certainly not delight me within the following 10 years that we see trips that are completely reserved.”.
Walt Disney is only running their test for a couple of days today, upright Thursday in time for the huge weekend crowd to come close to the trip as they usually would. Exactly how Disney World saw consumers react will dictate whether they proceed with the upgraded strategy to corralling the millions of folks that visit the park annually. John Gener, ceo of Leisure Business Advisors, claims that Walt Disney could have located a treatment for the the biggest concern theme parks face.
“If visitors have to hang around more compared to a hr, It practically does not matter exactly how good the ride is– they’re distressed.”.
On the other hand, Walt Disney runs the risk of outraging visitors that don’t take up reservations before they go out. This quandary, claims Gerner, is exactly what the experiment would lose some light on– which of these compromises is better for company.
“You’re essentially making people reserve beforehand and are eliminating this really long line at the scene. The trade-off is that folks eager to hang around 6 hours do not get to doing this.”.
Hardcore Walt Disney World fans sounded off on a Theme Park Insider article that announced the reservation-only modification for Midway Madness, many of which were adverse with regards to the potential customers of Walt Disney World with on-the-dot visits.
“It doesn’t matter just how long the line is, if visitors want to hang around in it, then they should be able. If visitors are not waiting in line at TSM, then they will be hanging around in another line somewhere else or clogging the clearance within the park. The academic removal of standby lines essentially lowers the effective ability of the park. I assume this is a horrible idea.”

A crowded Main Street at the Magic Kingdom
October 1st marks the 43rd birthday celebration of the biggest, most touristed of theme parks in the world, Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.
Ever since it initially opened on October 1, 1971, the park has actually been about producing magic and memories with cutting edge modern technology.
When the Magic Kingdom first opened, it had just 10,000 park visitors. The Walt Disney World Resort also debuted 2 on-siite hotels, the 15-story Contemporary Resort and also the Polynesian Village Resort, both connected by a monorail system. At the Contemporary, visitors were thrilled to see the monorail running straight through the center of the A-frame structure’s 10-story atrium.
Disney World was developed to supplement Disneyland in Anaheim, California which had opened up in 1955. Nevertheless, Walt Disney himself, it is said, done not like all of the businesses that opened up around Disneyland. Additionally, the majority of the population of the U.S., at that time, still lived east of the Mississippi in the 50s so Walt intended to build another park on the eastern.
A site in Orlando was chosen for the brand-new park as well as the Disney company started to buy land. Disney made use of different dummy companies to obtain all the land in order to stay away from a burst of land speculation.
It worked and the Magic Kingdom was introduced. Walt, which was highly involved in the planning of the “Florida Project” would never see it’s opening. He passed away December 15th, 1966.
When Roy O. Disney, Walt’s brother, welcomed guests via the grand opening of Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, he clarified that the park included his sibling’s full name, so that individuals would not neglect the name “of the man with which all of it began.”.
On opening up day in 1971, the cost of general admission to the Magic Kingdom cost just $3.50.
Guests might also purchase a book of ride tickets. Each book consisted of A to E tickets with the E tickets being the most top-notch rides, like Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and also Jungle Cruise.
