When parents consider the best place to take the children on vacation, Disney's Magic Kingdom is most likely at the top of the list. The park opened in 1971 and has withstood over three decades of change. With theme parks, technology is often the cause their demise. Fortunately, for children and adults, Disney World continues to provide enchanting vacations.

Top Theme Park Destination
The Magic Kingdom has held onto its top theme park destination reign by remaining true to Mr. Disney’s original entertainment goal, which was a safe, clean place for families to visit and enjoy their time together. Every Disney World visitor must see the Magic Kingdom. When Disney veterans arrive to the park, they feel comforted by the familiar surroundings. However, for first time guests, the Magic Kingdom will surely make them feel like a child again.
The park is split into five lands, which surround the Cinderella Castle in a spoke design. The lands are Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, Frontierland, Liberty Square and Adventureland. Arriving Disney visitors may notice that each land has a theme in which rides, restaurants and souvenir shops are all designed in the same motif.
When visitors to the Magic Kingdom enter Fantasyland, they’ll find rides such as “Snow White’s Scary Adventures” and “Dumbo the Flying Elephant.” Dining establishments include “Cinderella’s Royal Table” and “Pinocchio Village Haus.” Shopping in Fantasyland can be done at the “Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.”
A trip to the Adventureland area of the park includes rides like “Pirates of the Caribbean” and the “Jungle Cruise.” Hungry theme park visitors will find eateries such as “Tortuga Tavern” and the “Sunshine Tree Terrace” while costume enthusiasts will discover a thrilling adventure at “The Pirates League” where professional makeup artists turn average guests into pirates.
Frontierland features exciting rides like “Splash Mountain” and “Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.” Visitors can also explore “Tom Sawyer Island” and enjoy the antics of the animatronic animals during the “Country Bear Jamboree.” Guests may ride the “Walt Disney World Railroad” to Frontierland, and when hunger hits, establishments such as “Westward Ho” and the “Golden Oak Outpost” offer a variety of menu items.
When guests tour Tomorrowland, a ride on “Space Mountain” will thrill guests both big and small while the “Tomorrowland Speedway” will give visitors the chance to drive a racecar. Theme dining in Tomorrowland includes “Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café” “The Lunching Pad” and “Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant.”
Liberty Square features an exciting experience as it’s the location of the spooky “Haunted Mansion” while a peaceful ride on a riverboat can be enjoyed at the “Liberty Square Riverboat” ride. When guests take a break at “The Hall of Presidents” show, they’ll have the chance to see an animatronic version of President Barack Obama. Eateries in Liberty Square include “Sleepy Hollow” “Liberty Tree Tavern” and “The Diamond Horseshoe.”
Main Street U.S.A.
Vacationers who spend time at Main Street U.S.A. may take a ride around the park on the “Walt Disney World Railroad” or experience a trip down Main Street on one of the park’s antique vehicles. Guests may dine at the “Main Street Bakery,” “Tony’s Town Square Restaurant” or “The Plaza Restaurant.” The “Harmony Barber Shop” is on hand for a quick haircut while the “Town Square Theater” will provide visitors with an opportunity to meet several of the park’s characters.
Before the Theme Park Closes
The Magic Kingdom presents “Wishes” every night, which is an awe-inspiring fireworks display that may viewed throughout the park. Several parades are staged each day as well such as the “Main Street Electrical Parade” and “Celebrate A Dream Come True Parade.” Young visitors can become a sorcerer’s apprentice when Merlin the Magician teaches them how to cast magic spells. New apprentices will then be sent on an exciting journey to protect the Magic Kingdom from numerous Disney movie villains.
Another special event is “The Magic, The Memories and You!” After each day at the park winds down, the Magic Kingdom displays pictures of guests enjoying the day on the Cinderella Castle. The “Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! Street Party” will have visitors on their feet and dancing with beloved Disney characters.
Parents who remember visiting the park for the first time as children will have just as much fun when they bring their own children to Disney's Magic Kingdom as it was Walt Disney who said “Adults are only kids grown up.”
